Many of you will remember the video of Joanna trying apricots for the first time. It started with a look of disgust, then became her sticking her tongue out trying to get rid of the apricot, and finally finished with her swallowing it with a shudder. It's much easier now that Joanna has reached the age where she can eat almost everything we eat(if she actually will is another matter).
We are now facing the weaning trial with John. As our new kitchen is getting close to being finished we are starting to give John a few tastes. I was going to wait till the kitchen is fully finished, but who needs a sink or running water anyway? I'm much more keen on actually getting some sleep, and am desperately hoping the few tastes of food will persuade John that 3am is not a good time to feed. He was entirely unimpressed with the babyrice that we tried him with on the first day. His expression was one of "this is revolting, parents why would you do this to me, you are on my list". *
We tried it on Joanna too, and she said it was yucky. We tried it, and had to agree with her. It was made with formula, and if you've ever tasted formula you will also agree. Here's hoping that John will decide that food is a good thing, and hoping even more that he might start sleeping through at some point.
*John's list is his way of keeping track of who he is going to "get" when he is big enough. Currently it is: "Mummy, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, Mummy, Mummy......"

Matt thinks baby rice is revolting too - but sweet potato is proving an acceptable foodstuff (particularly for smearing everywhere and leaving orange stains!) and Dave is keen that Matt is given plenty of 'squashed up pear' (he told me that today after eating the last banana in the house which I had been saving for Matt's dinner!).
Try pizza and beer, that should do it!
Joanna is on his list too I think, but less so.
